Fans are eagerly anticipating the release of Apple iPhone 15 in September, but leaks about the phone’s specs have been circulating. The latest leak has also exposed images of USB-C connector parts that will be used with the new device.
Seeking clarification on the iPhone 15 leaks.
Earlier reports suggested that Apple may be moving its Lightning charging port to USB-C to comply with new EU regulations. Recently, MacRumors users @lipilipsi and @John011235 shared images of USB–C connector ports for various iPhone models on X. These changes were reported by longtime Apple tipsters such as Mark Gurman and Ming-Chi Kuo and are expected to be implemented across all models of the iPhone 15 series.
The details of the iPhone 15’s USB-C port are not known.
The announcement of USB-C ports on iPhones may be premature, considering that Apple is expected to modify their approach in the near future.

In a previous report from November 2022, Kuo mentioned that the iPhone 15 could potentially experience faster charging and data transfer rates with the new USB-C ports. However, he also stated that this would only be supported by the Pro and Pro Max models of iPhones, and that non-Pro models would support even higher speeds on their respective ports (and have similar charging capabilities to the Lightning port).
Additionally, a new leak by Apple tipster ShrimpApplePro disclosed that the USB-C ports may only support MFI licenced cables for optimal data and charging.
The authenticator chip in earPods and similar accessories allows Apple to limit any unlicensed accessories.
Third-party cables will experience reduced charging rates and data transfer.
Although there is no official release date for Apple’s new iPhone launch event, it is anticipated to happen on either September 12 or September 13 this year.
