J.K. Dobbins is sent packing after sustaining a leg injury in the third quarter. (0:23)
The Baltimore Ravens’ 25-9 victory on Sunday saw running back J.K. Dobbins tear his Achilles in, putting an end to his 2023 season and ruining the locker room.
After halftime, Dobbins fell to the ground when Houston Texans safety M.J. Stewart tackled his short pass in the right flat just 2 yards away from the end zone. He was ushered off to play on the sideline before moving with his arms around trainers for assistance.
Following the incident, Baltimore wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. expressed that Dobbins’ stomach was hurt due to an injury, and inside linebacker Patrick Queen clung to his tears while discussing Doblicht’s injuries.
J.K. is a special player who can’t be substituted, according to Ravens guard Kevin Zeitler. He believes that he has the potential to keep his team focused and motivated in their offense.
After two touchdowns on Sunday, Justice Hill and Gus Edwards will share the running back carries for the Ravens. Baltimore also has the option of adding former Pro Bowler Melvin Gordon to the roster.
Nevertheless, Dobbins outraging the rest of the team with a leaping 4-yard touchdown in the first quarter, marking the Ravens’ season-ending feat.
“J.K.” has been a valuable asset to the team, according to Lamar Jackson of the Ravens. He expressed his appreciation for his efforts and acknowledged the need for him during this difficult season.
For the second time in three years, Dobbins will essentially miss a whole season; last year he was sidelined for the entire 2021 season after suffering terribly with ice injury in Tuesday’S finale and nine games were missing due to knee injury.
Dobbins declared that he had reached 100% for the first time in three years before the opener.
“We’re saddened to hear this news,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh declared. “Alright, we’ll wrap up his treatment and bring him back next season, but it’s going to be a really tough situation for him.”
Dobbins, who is 24 years old, had expressed his frustration with his contract this offseason. He was entering the last year of his rookie deal and had a final year salary of $1.391 million, which is slightly above the earnings of Edwards and Hill, both of whom will receive $1 million.
Dobbins, who has missed 43 of 67 career games (64%), will become an unrestricted free agent in March.
“Seeing someone so kind endure such an event is heartbreaking,” the Queen expressed. “I just requested everyone to pray for their mental well-being.”
Baltimore’s Week 1 saw three starters, including Dobbins and safety Marcus Williams, who departed early in the game due to injuries.
According to Harbaugh, their condition will be assessed after MRI tests. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler has disclosed that the Ravens are trying to determine if Williams, who has full range of motion and limited pain but significant swelling, had a torn pec.
Harbaugh acknowledged the high number of injuries in football, stating that everyone strives to do their best.
