Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) was identified in the patient, which is caused by an abnormal increase in heart rate when standing.

Long Covid has been shown to have an effect on the autonomic nervous system, which regulates involuntary bodily functions such as heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, digestion, and sexual arousal.

In children with autonomic nervous system dysfunction (dysautonomia), acrocyanosis has been observed in many cases of post-viral syndromes.

Sivan noted that patients may not be aware that acrocyanosis is symptomatic of long Covid and dysautonomia, and they may express concern about their symptoms.

Sivan’s team has previously demonstrated that Long Covid sufferers frequently exhibit both dysautonomia and POTS.

According to the researchers, the patient’s case exemplified why it is crucial for individuals with this condition to be more cognizant of this symptom.

Sivan emphasized the importance of emphasizing the need for increased awareness regarding dysautonomia in long-term patients to enable clinicians to provide necessary tools for managing them effectively.
