A deal for Moises Caicedo between Liverpool and Brighton and Hove Albion has been finalized, with the striker set to sign for a British record fee of £110m ($140m) as part of the agreement.
The auction took place on Thursday at midnight, with Liverpool being the highest bidder and Chelsea having offered up to £100m for the 21-year-old.
Personal terms for Caicedo and Liverpool have not yet been finalized, but it is expected to be a formal affair, and he will receive meds on Friday.
Caicedo was a top target for Chelsea, but Liverpool refused to abandon their offer. This move would surpass the club’s transfer record set at £75m for Virgil van Dijk.

Caicedo has been a top target for Chelsea this summer, following the departures of Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. They are also eyeing Southampton’s Romeo Lavia, who is also being considered by Liverpool, and Tyler Adams from Leeds United.
Alexis Mac Allister, the midfielder of Caicedo, has been sold by Brighton to Liverpool, who will be playing in the Europa League next season.
Luton Town will be their home ground for the start of their Premier League campaign on Saturday, followed by a game against Chelsea and away to Liverpool on Sunday.
