Before being awarded the highest honor at the awards show, which was sponsored by Toyota, Shakira performed some of her greatest hits. She was introduced by Wyclef Jean, her partner on the award-winning album “Hips Don’t Lie.” The Fugees founder spoke to the audience and exclaimed, “Give it up for Shake!

Shakira’s opening performance featured shape-shifting poses that led to the release of “She Wolf,” the title track from her 2009 album with the same name, followed by more recent hits such as “Te felicito,” her duet with Rauw Alejandro, and popular tracks like “ TQG.”

During her VMAs performance of “Objection (Tango),” Shakira kept Rockera Shakar at the center of attention, using a bright beige color to showcase her effortless dance moves. She went on to collaborate with other artists and shared more crossover hits like “Ojos As” and “Whenever, Wherever.” She ended her show by finishing up with Alicia Keys’ collaboration with Bizarrap, where she used the phrase “sal-pique” that refers to her ex-Gi’s last year.

Shakira thanked her parents and children for their support during the Video Vanguard Award presentation. “Mama can do it!” she said, while receiving a warm reception from her sons at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.

The singer, speaking in Spanish, expressed her gratitude to fellow Latinos in the United States and worldwide, expressing appreciation for their inspiration and motivation to move forward. “I love you immensely,” she said.
