Mumbai Police arrest Tushar Gandhi, the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi who was demonstrating to honor India Day by saying “I Am Proud!”

On August 9, Tushar Gandhi, the great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi was reportedly detained while leaving his home to observe Quit India Day. He tweeted that it was “a rare event in Indian history” and expressed pride in being arrested by British Police.

The Mumbai Police have detained Mahatma Gandhi’s Great-Grandson, as per reports.

Indipendent India has never experienced a detention for individuals such as myself, who were apprehended at Santa Cruz Police Station while leaving home to honor the 9th August Quit Indian Day. I am proud to report that my Great Grandparents Bapu and Ba were also arrested by the British Police on this significant date.
