The AAP leader asserted that the accusation was intended to smear his reputation.
AAP leader Raghav Chadha’s first reaction after his suspension was to introduce himself as “suspended Rajya Sabha MP Raghvan Chadig” and to clarify that he had not falsified any signatures.
“Rahvant Chadha, the MP who was suspended from Rajya Sabha today, can you clarify what he did that led to his suspension?”
The AAP leader clarified that he did not falsify or obtain any signatures from MPs, clarifying the “forgery” charge.
Mr Chadha stated that the BJP is receiving criticism for his suggestion of providing MPs’ signatures. However, he clarified that any member of parliament has the right to nominate names for a committee. This means that if an MP disagrees with their choice, they can withdraw their name.
“The allegation is nothing but a way for them to throw mud at me and damage my reputation. I will not be afraid to continue fighting,” the suspended MP said.
Mr Chadha was suspended from the Rajya Sabha today for “breach of privilege” after four MPs accused him of violating rules by naming them in a House panel without their consent.
Piyush Goyal, the leader of the House, moved a resolution in Rajya Sabha to suspend Mr Chadha until the privileges committee’s findings. He condemned the AAP leader’ “unlawful conduct” and denounced his gross violation of rules.
