The official launch of Apple Watch Series 9 and the second-generation AppleWatch Ultra is scheduled for September 12 at the ‘Wonderlust’ event. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the smartwatch will feature a new version of apple’s optical heart rate sensor, which will be available in sizes 42mm and 45mm, and could include the 49mm model.
Mark Gurman, in his latest weekly Power On newsletter, has revealed that the Watch Series 9 and second-generation Apple Watch Ultra will feature a new optical heart rate sensor, which is essentially an upgrade from the third-gen heart rates found on the current Watch series 8 and last year’s Watch ultra.
Gurman confirms that the Apple Watch Series 9 and AppleWatch Ultra will have a similar appearance as their predecessors. The former will be released in 42mm and 45mm sizes, while the newer will likely come in 49mm versions and will feature fewer recycled materials and resemble ICE Oven models.
The new wearables, which will be like the iPhone 15 series, will feature a U2 ultrawide-band chip that will enhance Find My capabilities, according to Gurman. This is in addition to the first new chip released since the Series 6 in 2020.
A new process based on 3D printing is being used to produce the stainless steel models of Apple Watch Series 9, which could help reduce carbon emissions and improve the environment. This process will also be used for the second-generation Ultra, while the company is reportedly removing some of its leather watch bands and possibly updating or discontinuing its stainless Steel link bracelets from the 2015 watch.
Apple’s ‘Wonderlust’ launch event will take place on Tuesday, September 12 at 10:30pm IST, at Apple Park in California, and will be streamed live on the company’S YouTube channel and online through Apple.com website. The iPhone 15 series and second-generation AirPods Pro model are also set to be announced alongside the new Apple Watch Ultra (2nd Gen) and AppleWatch Series 9 models.
