The official statement announced that Red Fort has welcomed as Special Guests, including approximately 1,800 individuals from various professions and their spouses, as well as 75 couples from each State/Union Territory who are dressed in traditional attire, for Independence Day festivities.
The Nation will be joined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 15, 2023, at the Red Fort in Delhi to observe the 77th Independence Day.
The move is in line with the Government’s vision of ‘Jan Bhagidari’.
The news release stated that 75 couples from each State/Union Territory, dressed in their customary garb, have been invited to attend the ceremony at Red Fort.
The celebrations at Red Fort were graced by the presence of over 400 saranches from more than 660 colorful villages, 250 farmer producer organization participants, and 50 participants from the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme and Prabudhan Vikas Yojana.
50 Shram Yogis, Khadi workers, border road construction workers (including those involved in Amrit Sarovar and Har Ghar Jal Yojana), primary school teachers, nurses, and fishermen are all eligible to participate in the Central Vista Project, which includes the New Parliament Building.
During their stay in Delhi, some of the Special Guests will also be visiting the National War Memorial and meeting Raksha Rajya Mantri Ajay Bhatt.

The 77th Independence Day has been given various commemorative events. A higher number of guests have been invited than in the previous year.
Selfie points have been established at 12 different locations, including National War Memorial, India Gate, Vijay Chowk, New Delhi Railway Station, Pragati Maidan, Raj Ghat, Jama Masjid Metro Station and Rajiv Chotna.
Global Hope, Vaccine & Yoga, Ujjwala Yojana, Space Power, Digital India, Skill India and Start-up India are some of the schemes/initiatives that have been launched.
A celebration-based online selfie contest will be held on the MyGov portal by the Ministry of Defence from August 15-20. Participants will choose from 12 installations and upload their selfies to the website for participation.
The online selfie competition will choose twelve winners, one from each installation, and award them with 10,000 each.
