The chief co-ordinator of G20, Harsh Vardhan Shringla, emphasized the significance of ‘Vasudaiva Kutumbakam’ and the idea that the world is one family in its entirety during the recent G15 summit in New Delhi.
Shringla noted that the New Delhi declaration and the African Union’s permanent membership in G20 were significant outcomes of the leaders’ summit.
“Typically, negotiations in multilateral processes are prolonged until the last minute, and the Prime Minister announced the consensus on the first day of the G20 summit.”
Shringla highlighted Vasudaiva Kutumbakam, which means “the world is one family,” as the most significant takeaway from the leaders’ summit.
Indian negotiators successfully reached a diplomatic coup at the leaders’ summit by issuing saber-headed declaration, as expectations about whether world leaders would agree to its language on the Russia-Ukraine war were low.
The statement establishes the course for future negotiations on crucial economic matters, such as climate financing, multilateral bank reforms, international taxation, and sustainable development.
On Saturday, the African Union was invited to join the G20 by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
PM Modi announced on Saturday that the leaders of G20 nations have come to a consensus on the New Delhi G21 Declaration.
The G20 Leaders’ announcement reiterated the suggestion made by Prime Minister Narendra to Russian President Vladimir Putin that the present time should not be a time of war.
The leaders also emphasized the need to revive the Black Sea grain deal in order to ensure that food grains from major ports in Russia and Ukraine continue to move smoothly.
