The NFL preseason Week 1 highlights highlight: Derek Carr’s impressive debut, followed by Trey Lance’ obtuse touchdown pass.

The NFL is now in the midst of its first complete weekend of preseason games. The next two games of Week 1 were played on Sunday with Derek Carr leading the pack and Trey Lance looking wobbly, following six Saturday contests that featured the highly anticipated debuts of rookie quarterbacks Anthony Richardson and Bryce Young.

C.J. Stroud and Young were first-round picks, but the latter had some growing pains while Richardson played alongside them.

There were several interesting lessons learned from Friday’s games. Steelers running back Kenny Pickett had a comfortable drive against the Buccaneers, while Love’State game in Cincinnati was also impressive. Sam Howell, the Commanders quarterback, looked sharp against Browns and with an early struggle, Russell Wilson caught Jerry Jeudy on his last possession in Arizona.

Below, you can find their highlights (and other important moments) as we track the NFL’s introductory week of the preseason. We’ll be sharing more highlights throughout the weekend, so don’t forget to check back later.

Sunday

Takeaway: Saints 26, Chiefs 24,

Takeaway: Raiders 34, 49ers 7.

A terrible pass is delivered by Trey Lance resulting in a touchdown.

Despite being the San Francisco starter for the first half of the 49ers-Raiders game, Trey Lance has struggled. The team only gained one additional yard of offensive yards in the quarter. However, the Niners quarterback managed to tie the game with a touchdown pass to tight end Ross Dwelley, which could have been passed by many other players.

Take a look at this. Lance appeared to be on his way after he completed the ball with 13 yards to Willie Snead on the previous play, but then threw it into the end zone.

In a short Saints debut, Carr is impressive.

Despite playing in his first preseason game in New Orleans, Derek Carr impressed fans by finishing with a 5-yard touchdown pass to Keith Kirkwood.

Carr’s only series against the Chiefs came to an end after Jameis Winston, his backup and former No. 1 overall pick, hit a 29-yard touchdown pass to A.T. Perry.

Mahomes had a brief day.

Andy Reid stated that the Chiefs starters would have a significant role in the first quarter, but Patrick Mahomes’ impact was negligible.

Mahomes’ sole game against the Saints on Sunday was a one-off, with him achieving 2 of 2 for 15 yards. He also scored 0 yards and took lateral damage during his sloping motion, but it was still not typical for Serie A games to feature players like England’s Patrick Osborne on the K.C. sideline.

Six Eagles are selected.

Despite winning 23 consecutive preseason games, the Ravens may face a challenge vs. the Eagles as Philly cornerback Eli Ricks scored by picking off Anthony Brown and returning it with 31 yards to reduce the deficit to one point. The Eagle team tried if they could convert the ball for another point, but failed in its attempt.

Is it possible for the Eagles to secure a win?

Nathan Rourke’s preseason TD pass is the game-winning achievement.

I’m confident that this touchdown pass in the preseason will be even better than the one we had. Jaguars tight end Nathan Rourke broke through four potential sacks in his pocket and then scored a 21-yard touchdown to Qadree Ollison while being tackled by nfl teammate Corey Cowboy.

Take a look at this:

Rourke, who was born in Canada and played football at Ohio, played for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League for a few seasons before trying out as tenth-round wide receiver. His latest endeavor was to secure ‘a quarterback position’ in the NFL, and his play made him famous.

Jalen Carter’s impact on the first NFL play is felt.

Despite losing some pieces on defense, the Eagles managed to secure the services of Jalen Carter, a promising defensive player. The Georgia Bulldog is able to chase down the quarterback on his first NFL play.

D’Andre Swift causes embarrassment for the defender.

With a top five rushing offense in 2022, the Eagles’ running back lineup, including Jalen Hurts, is expected to thrive. Swift, drafted by Philadelphia during the NFL Draft, could be ready for Specter’s breakout campaign in early 2023.

Witness the nastiest move he made against a Ravens defensive back on Saturday night.

Deuce Vaughn, the Cowboys’ frontman, strikes a pose.

Deuce Vaughn, the 6-foot-6 rookie running back of the Cowboys, was a versatile player who excelled on ice. He played in 10 plays and scored 85 touchdowns for the team during the fourth quarter.

Vaughn’s shifty and entertaining personality makes it even more interesting to watch the Cowboys run at the running back position. He finished with 50 yards and a touchdown on eight carries.

Jalen Tolbert is selected to be part of the Cowboys.

During the first half of their preseason matchup against Jacksonville, the Cowboys had two chances to score points, but Will Grier’s 12-play, 63-yard drive got Dallas on board before the halftime break.

Second-year widen Jalen Tolbert was found by Grier in the middle of the field, and he scored with a waltz of 17 yards just 13 seconds before halftime.

A 42-yard catch was made by Jacob Harris during a diving attempt.

The prospect of making the roster is clear. Former Rams tight end/wide receiver Jacob Harris made a diving catch off C.J. Beathard, which you must witness.

After three plays, the Jags extended their lead to double digits thanks to this massive play.

Trevor Lawrence missed on Jags’ opening drive.

Trevor Lawrence, the Jags’s star player, is expected to win the AFC South once again in 2023. Despite going from first in the league to second in last year, he did not start well in his first preseason game.

On the second play from scrimmage against the Cowboys, Lawrence attempted to force a throw downfield but was picked off by Juanyeh Thomas.

After conceding the first and only touchdown of Lawrence’s third drive, he returned it to Christian Kirk for a 9-yard touchdown attempt.

Bryce Young debuts in NFL.

The Panthers traded for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and used it to draft Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, who played only three series and went 0-for-3 on third downs while also punting three times during his first preseason game.

With a total of 4 out of 6 passes for 21 yards, Young was dismissed once and only caught one pocket shot, but always ended up getting up.

Barkley spits and rocks.

It’s likely that Matt Barkley was under the impression that he was at USC on Saturday. The former Trojans player had a successful day, making 12 of his first 13 throws for 153 yards and connecting with Tyrell Shavens and Dezmon Patmon.

The Colts rookie’s impressive performance includes a pick six and dunk.

The Colts’ rookie cornerback, Darius Rush (who was recruited in the same trade as Bills backup quarterback Kyle Allen), made his first appearance in an NFL game with a 52-yard pick six.

The third career pass was intercepted by Richardson.

Colts rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson completed his first NFL pass on a 15-yard line to former Bill Isaiah McKenzie. His third pass was picked off cornerback Dane Jackson by the Bills, who played he set up James Cooks for an 8-play touchdown run (pictured below). Richardsons finished his afternoon 7-for-12 passing for 67 yards and was sacked once. He then rushed for 7 yards on two carries.

Big-hearted Bears

Justin Fields caught DJ Moore on his first play as a Bear. The Bears traded him to Chicago in exchange for the No. 1 overall pick in April, who was Bryce Young.

The Bears’ big-play offense hit back on its next drive, with Fields crushing the Titans and then scoring a touchdown pass to Khalil Herbert.

Malik outdoes himself by racking up six wickets.

The Titans’ Malik Willis faced the Bears in Chicago, where he scored on a 2-yard touchdown run that included his impressive juke of Beards linebacker T.J. Edwards. The score ended despite Bill Belichick completion to Chris Moore from Tennessee for 30 yards on 12 plays.

Cardinals secure victory through a combination of tactics.

The Cardinals were 17-10 up and drove 75 yards in the last 90 seconds of the game. David Blough hit rookie Brian Cobbs for an 18-yard score, but Arizona won the ball after another rookie, running back Emari Demercado, rumbled into the end zone on the Cardinal’s two-point try.

The Browns’ rookie QB makes another appearance.

Following his impressive debut in the Hall of Fame game, rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson had a strong showing on Friday night. He completed 9 of 10 throws, including completing ill-fated plays and landing dunks for David Bell that evening.

Russ saves 2023 debut.

In Denver’s game against Arizona, Russell Wilson put the Broncos on the board with a 21-yard strike to Jerry Jeudy with less than seven minutes left in the first half, following relegation from their earlier struggles.

Punt return TD

Falcons’ cornerback Dee Alford dodged tackles and ran 79 yards to the end zone, leading to Atlanta’s 19-3 victory over Miami.

Wheels are attached to Wilson’s body.

Packers’ Emanuel Wilson triumphs over Bengals’ Larry Brooks and took it to the house quickly.

Pick is -6.

The Falcons defensive back, Breon Borders, caught a pass from Dolphins quarterback Skylar Thompson that was tipped by wide receiver Chris Coleman and ran it back for six.

Howell and Dotson exchanged greetings.

The Commanders were put on the board by Jahan Dotson, who made a touchdown pass from quarterback Sam Howell. Both players are now in their second year at the league level and showing promise.

Browns’ safety was questioned.

Although it’s not common to see safetyties in the NFL, they can be entertaining when they happen. This time, a holding call on Andrew Wylie from Commanders resulted in ten points for the Browns.

Playing in Austin.

A touchdown was scored by Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph and wide receiver Calvin Austin III. Despite being sidelined for his rookie season, Austin has been a standout player in training camp. He then continued to impress with jubilant style on Friday night.

Interception x2

Packers quarterback Sean Clifford’s number has been disclosed by Tycen Anderson. The second-year Bengals safety intercepte a two-time defender in the first half.

The image displays his initial pick, which led to a touchdown return.

The return path was 95 yards.

The Lions scored their first touchdown of the game when Maurice Alexander took it 95 yards to the house and made it look easy.

Eliminating INT.

Zyon McCollum exhibited remarkable play as he picked up quarterback Mitch Trubisky’s pass intended for wide receiver Cody White. He successfully made the interception thanks to his excellent coverage and ability to stay with the ball off the bounce.

Bakers are those who prepare meals.

The ball was too small for Baker Mayfield to catch up with the team, so Trey Palmer’s pass and his tackle in the end zone helped Tampa Bay get on the board.

Love TD

After his night, Jordon Love, the quarterback of the Packers, found himself in the end zone and scored a TD in Green Bay’s first preseason game. Love ended the game by throwing to Romeo Doubs in regulation in that quarter.

Branch demonstrates his skills by exchanging blows.

Brian Branch was expected to be a first-rounder this past April, but his performance changed as he was rounded off by the Detroit Lions at No. 45 overall. He then made headlines against the New York Giants, knocking Cole Beasley out of the starting lineup.

Take a trip to Williams for some fresh air.

During the Lions’ training camp, Jameson Williams encountered some unexpected drops during his outing, and in their first preseason game, he managed to beat the defender by running for the ball, but failed to catch it with enough force to make a significant impact.

Pickett converses with Pickens.

Kenny Pickett made a strong start to the new year. He connected with George Pickens for fumbles and eventually scored in the team’s first preseason game.

Pickett’s 70-yard drive on the road resulted in a 6-for-7 score.

Watson refused to comply.

Daxton Hill was unable to catch the ball as Love tried to find wide receiver Christian Watson. He got too close and batted down right before Watson could make any plays.
