The RBI MPC meeting was a success as the central bank remains cautious about interest rates and pursues hawkish policies.

The RBI MPC meeting resulted in a unanimous decision to leave the repo rate unchanged at 6.5 percent, while the Standing Deposit Facility rate and Marginal Standing Facility rates were maintained at 6.25 percent and 6.75 percent respectively.

The RBI-led Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of India has three members from the bank and three external members. The previous MPC meeting in June did not raise the repo rate. Today’s decision was made for the third time, as the central bank had already raised the price by 250 bps to combat inflation.

This fiscal’s MPC meeting will be the third of its kind, with three external members and three RBI officials. The M PC includes Shashanka Bhide, Ashima Goyal, and Jayanth R Varma as panel members, along with Governor Shaktikanta Das and other RBI representatives such as Rajiv Ranjan and Michael Debabrata Patra.
