The Tamil film industry is in shock as jailer actor G Marimuthu dies of a heart attack.

The 57-year-old Tamil actor-director, known for his role in the Tamil television series Ethirneechal and working with filmmaker Mani Ratnam, died from a heart attack. He was also known as G Marimuthu on Twitter, according to news reports.

In a tweet, Ramesh Bala shared that Marimuthu, renowned Tamil actor, had suffered cardiac arrest and had gained immense popularity for his TV series dialogues. He also mentioned that he was only 57 years old.

Marimuthu was quickly transported to the hospital.

Johnson, a PR executive in the South film sector, tweeted that G Marimuthu collapsed on Friday morning around 8.30 am while filming for his TV show Ethirneechal in Chennai. He was immediately taken to remonmongers and declared dead at ‘the local hospital’.

Director-actor Marimuthu passed away at 8.30 am due to cardiac arrest in a tragic incident, as stated by him on Twitter.

The passing of Marimuthu was mourned by actor Radikaa Sarathkumar, who tweeted about his talent and loss. His family is in a state of shock and sadness.

According to One India, G Marimuthu had a career spanning more than 50 films, including directed films and TV shows. He left his hometown of Pasumalaitheri in Theni for Chennai in 1990 with the goal of becoming DG.

According to the portal, Marimuthu began his career as a hotel waiter before meeting lyricist Vairamuthu and eventually working with Rajkiran as an assistant director on films such as Aranmanai Kili (1993) and Ellame En Rasathan (1995). He also worked as both an Assistant Director and collaborating with other notable filmmakers, including Mani Ratnam, Vasanth, Seeman, and SJ Surya. He was also involved in co-directing Silambarasan’s Manmadhan.
