On Friday, Asia-Pacific markets experienced a drop as Japan’s second quarter gross domestic product figures were released. Hong Kong cancelled trade for the entire day due to lingering storms, while Japan continued to record losses (1.16%) at 32,606.84, eroding its previous weekly gains. The Topix was down 1.02% and finishing at 2,359.02, according to reports.
The Asian financial hub experienced its most severe rainfall in 140 years on Friday, prompting a “black rainstorm” warning and cancellation of trading in Hong Kong’s exchange. Under Hong Kung Lee Exchange guidelines, there will be no trading today if the black rain storm is not lifted after 12 p.m. Locally, the CSI 300 was down 0.49% and the end-date range was 3,739.99.
